National assessment scores were released on Monday, October 24, and results show a significant decline in reading proficiency. Here's how Read Naturally programs can help.

If the answer is yes, then it’s time to check their initial placement! It might be tempting, especially during these unusual circumstances, to leave your students in their current Read Naturally groove and let them continue zipping through stories. But pausing now to check their initial placement is a key step to making sure they’re working in the correct level with an optimal goal.

It’s time for the annual Read Naturally Top 10 Blog Posts! The 2020-21 school year brought many challenges for teachers, students, and parents. Our goal at Read Naturally is to support educators and help students make great progress. In the past year, we’ve added three additional programs to Read Live and introduced several new features to support distance learning. As you can see, these new programs and features dominated the list for top blog posts for the 2020-21 school year. The introduction of Word Warm-ups Live and phonics-related content was especially popular. But what was at the top of the list? You’ll have to keep reading to find out!

The school-to-home connection is more important than ever. The need for distance learning over the past year has created challenges for teachers, parents, and students. And, as the school year ends, we don’t want our learners to experience a “summer slide.” By having parents as partners, students who have been working in Read Live at school can have more support and continuity in their instruction. We want to share some tools and resources to help your students take advantage of reading opportunities with Read Live, even during the summer months, from home.

Over the past year, we’ve added three new curriculum options and developed several new features to better support distance learning with Read Live. We’ve also updated content, added support for Google (G Suite) for Education, and developed more resources for training and support. Read Live is better than ever!

The latest Read Live update includes even more improvements to help support Read Live users implementing the program in a hybrid or distance-learning module. We’ve added more detailed information to the Waiting List, enabled account and student-level controls for the recording features, and created a new Team feature.

The word “troubleshooting” is the theme of this year’s Read Naturally lab! We’ve experienced a whole new way of teaching and making the best out of distance learning. At the beginning of the year, our school was lucky enough to be in session full-time, every day. This allowed for a somewhat normal Read Naturally schedule. However, due to the Covid19 situation, the school no longer allowed volunteers in the building. With 3 classes of 8-10 students, we were still in need of extra teachers. Zoom to the rescue!

This past year has been especially challenging for teachers, students, and parents. As 2020 winds down, we’d like to thank educators everywhere for their continued dedication to student success. Your work is incredibly important and greatly appreciated. Thank you for everything you do.

The latest Read Live update released on November 19, 2020 provides even greater support to educators and students using the program in a distance learning model. Check out the full release notes for more detailed information.

The latest Read Live update includes two new features specifically designed to support the use of Read Live in distance- or blended-learning models.
