We do have individual replacements for some of the older versions available on the Accessories section of our website as well.
Many schools set up a checkout program for their equipment. If a student knows they’ll be held accountable for the condition of the equipment when it is returned, they are more likely to take personal responsibility for its care. Always keep CDs and cassettes in a case, and use a soft cloth and water to gently clean CDs when they become dirty. If you are concerned about your booklets or CDs becoming damaged, we recommend making a single backup copy of these materials to be filed away and accessed in case of loss or damage. Of course, you can also purchase replacements as necessary from the Accessories section of our website.
Yes and no. While we take precautions to safeguard against our stories being recorded over, as with anything in life, it is possible.
But first, what we have done to safeguard against this potential problem: We manufacture the cassettes with just this issue in mind. The cassettes that are produced for us have openings in the top of them. This opening prevents a lever in the cassette recorder from recording on the cassette.
However, there are situations where this safeguard is not enough and the cassettes can be recorded on. This recording can happen if the opening in the top of the cassette is filled with wadded up paper or covered with tape.
This recording can also happen if the cassette recorder you use does not have the safety lever that was mentioned above. Most cassette recorders do have this lever, and the ones we sell at Read Naturally most certainly do.
Many teachers find that numbering tape recorders and assigning them to the students helps them to take care of the equipment. You may also want to design a check-out program for the cassettes. Although the cassettes have tabs punched out to prevent recording over, students have been known to cover the holes or find other ways to get around the precautions we've taken.
