This Spanish language version of Read Naturally Live develops the literacy skills of multilingual readers. Read Naturally Live—Español utilizes the highly effective, research-based Read Naturally Strategy on a web-based platform. This mostly independent reading program supports native Spanish speakers to develop their Spanish reading fluency while developing general reading skills with Spanish texts. The program may be used with Spanish-speaking students before or while a student learns to read in English. The program also helps native English speakers or others to learn to read Spanish text fluently as an additional language.

Read Naturally Live—Español is a Spanish version of Read Naturally Live that accelerates reading achievement by combining the research-proven strategies of teacher modeling, repeated reading, and progress monitoring. A student works at his or her own pace in an appropriate level of material. Text and audio (completely in Spanish) guide the student through the steps. The student masters a story by reading along with audio and then practicing the story until he or she can read it fluently and with comprehension. The program automatically tracks student progress.

pointerRead Naturally Live—Español Rationale and Research

Read Naturally Live StepsRead Naturally Live Steps
  1. Select a Story (Seleccione una Lectura)
The student clicks on the story he or she wants to read. Choosing the story deepens the student’s investment in the material.
  2. Key Words (Palabras Claves)
The student reads the key words and their definitions while listening to an audio recording. The key words provide definitions that are important to understanding the story.
  3. Prediction (Predicción)
The student uses the title, picture, and key words to write a prediction of what he or she thinks the story is about. The prediction prepares the student’s mind for reading the story.
  4.  Cold Timing (Primer Intento)
The teacher may time the student for one minute as he or she reads the story, or the student may complete this step independently. The student clicks unknown words while reading, and then clicks the last word read during the timing. Read Naturally Live subtracts the unknown words from the total number of words attempted to obtain a cold-timing score and displays the score on a graph. This step establishes a baseline for progress monitoring, the component of the Read Naturally Strategy that motivates the student to improve.
  5. Read Along (Leer Juntos)
The student reads along quietly with a recording of the story, typically three times. This step is the teacher-modeling component of the Read Naturally Strategy, which helps the student learn new words and master others as well as learn proper pronunciation, expression, and phrasing.
  6. Practice (Práctica)
The student practices reading the story without audio support three to ten times until able to read it accurately, with expression, and at the goal rate. This step is the repeated-reading component of the Read Naturally Strategy, which helps the student improve fluency, master difficult words, and understand the story.
  7. Quiz (Prueba)
The student answers questions about the story. Responding to the text holds the student accountable for meaning, develops the ability to answer many types of questions, and provides teachers with information about how well the student comprehends the story.
  8. Retell (Volver a Contar)
The student retells or summarizes the story to improve comprehension.
  9. Pass (Aprobar)
The student reads the story for the teacher to show that he or she can read it at the goal rate, with appropriate expression, and with three or fewer errors. The teacher corrects the comprehension questions and the retelling of the story (if applicable) and reviews the results with the student.

Additional graphs show results for the comprehension questions, and the retelling (if applicable).

Read Naturally Live—Español is a component of Read Live, a subscription program that is licensed per student. Teachers can reassign licenses if students leave the program. Read Live subscriptions include access to ten levels of Read Naturally Live—Español (1.0–5.6) with 24 stories per level.

The student works through the level in the student program, and the teacher manages the student's progress in the teacher program.

As a Reading Interventionist, my school was struggling to find a program that both built fluency as well as reading comprehension for our 5th-8th graders. Read Live to the rescue! We are seeing many of our at risk students show huge growth in their reading comprehension. The program has high interest stories at each level. Students get to choose what stories they would like to read. I should also add - the training we received from Read Live was extremely helpful to us.

Although I cannot speak for the rest of my coworkers, I love Read Live. I have seen a big leap in how my students read. Their scores are going up and even improved on their state testing. I have used Read Naturally in the past and have loved how quickly, with daily practice, my students improved.

I have used Read Live for many years now. It is an outstanding program for building fluency! The stories are engaging — any many times I have said of a tidbit of information……I learned that in a Read Live story! When the students buy into the program the results are amazing!

I work with academic intervention teachers to serve the foster youth students in our school district. Since last year, Read Naturally has been a valuable resource to improve and strengthen their reading skills. I love how the students can practice keywords while working on comprehension and sentence writing. It has become my first choice for reading sessions.

I'm a new teacher and I just started using One Minute Reader and I love it so far. I do hot and cold reads for my students. I'm a fist year special education teacher. I'm interested to explore more of what this program has to offer. After exploring your website, it seems like you guys have a lot of good progress monitoring tools and data tracking. One of the data tracking pages I got from your site was to do the hot and cold reads, it's been a good help with keeping my students engaged in their progress and areas to grow in.

I tutored a student with reading disabilities and she was 3 years below her reading grade level. She did not like the hands-on, multisensory methods of other research-based reading programs, so I introduced her to Read Naturally's online reading program. Since she loves technology, I thought this would be a good fit. She not only liked the online learning and engaging lessons of Read Naturally, she LOVED it! In 6 months, she increased her reading level by two years because she enjoyed interacting with the program so frequently. Her parents were astounded! I highly recommend the online program for students who may not enjoy the structured literacy approach of other programs.

The suite of tools that Read Live offers are so instrumental in supporting students on their journeys to become proficient readers. We couple Word Warm Up Live with Read Live Sequenced Stories to allow students to build their accuracy, fluency, expression, & comprehension abilities while continuously strengthening fluency with decoding at the word level. At my last school site Read Live became an essential part of our strong K-3 Literacy program and the Read Live model we used has now spread to other campuses within that district. I, happily, took Read Live with me to my new district site where we are building our program from the ground up and already seeing success. I encourage all campuses to consider Read Live and its many tools as an element for your reading program. Helpful at all tiers of instruction, Read Live is a tool I won't live without as a reading specialist.

I love to use Read Naturally Live with my students in private practice. We work hard on phonics skills and then use the program to gain more fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. The predictable format has been great for my dyslexic students as well. The students love the high interest stories and really enjoy when they hit their goals.

My 8th grade Reading Itervention class adopted the Read Naturally Live program as a replacement to the mishegoss that HMH created by re-configuring their Read180 software program. I was hesitant at first to use the Read Live program, as rumoors that "it was used years ago" and "it just wasn't a good program". Not knowing if that was true or not, I signed up for the FREE 60 day "test-drive", and was pleasantly surpised at how easy it is the use, and how engaging and focused the material is. My students have been successful using it, constantly growing with each intervention period, and one of my students was actually selected as the Read Naturally's "Star of the Month" for December! Their customer support has been very helpful, and they have additional opportunities via live webinars or tape webinars (which I can view with a busy teaching schedule). The program is highly-affordable, and a great addition to my 8th grade classroom.

Michelle was a huge help in getting us back up and running as we have several new faces since first using Read Live and her level of patience was appreciated. We hope to watch other tutorials to best use the full spectrum of tools available and also connect our teaching staff to help the team support our EL students with language acquisition and comprehension along with fluency/accuracy.

The placement test was so easy to do! The personalized set-up meeting was great. The coach was patient with me as I navigated the pages. I am not tech savvy, so I appreciate the extra help & the patience while I worked. I used RN in the past when it was only on paper. The computerized version will be so much easier. Most of my students were surprised to find they placed at higher reading level than where they thought. I am looking forward to using this program with my students. They enjoy seeing their progress & getting immediate feedback.

Read Naturally Live is an excellent program for developing reading fluency. I have used it for over 10 years as a station in my support setting. The program provides a visual representation of how practice affects their reading rate. Additionally, the comprehension questions help me identify the specific skills that require direct instruction. I would highly recommend it as part of a robust reading program. Also, the customer service is phenomenal. Christy has been so accommodating and responsive. I am so appreciative of the whole team.

I have used your programs with Special Education students in self-contained classrooms. They were motivated by their progress and enjoyed discussing their stories with others. I have always spoken highly of your programs and recommended the programs to other districts.
