Christine Hurley is a retired teacher who served as a librarian and French teacher at public and parochial schools for 22 years. She has coordinated fluency benchmark assessments and Read Naturally fluency intervention programs in both public and private schools, and initiated a Read Live summer program that for many years served hundreds of students from the Winston-Salem community. She was named NCEA Distinguished Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2008. Having experienced first-hand the power of the Read Naturally Strategy with her own students from 1st graders to 8th graders (along with some high school and adult learners along the way!), she enjoys sharing her experience with the program with administrators and educators at school districts and state and national conferences.
