One Minute Reader Live Schedule and Timing

Schedule: The schedule for One Minute Reader Live varies. This program can be used during independent reading time, for additional reading practice in a structured format, for homework, and/or over holiday/summer breaks. 

One Minute Reader Live: Estimated Time Per Step

Cold Read

Read Along

(Average words/story in level E=73 and average words/story in level 5=233.)

Option available before/after read alongs. After clicking on a highlighted word, the students read along as the word, definition, and often a sample sentence are read. The lowest level has several highlighted words per story; the highest level generally more than 15. Option also available in the read alone and quick quiz steps.

Read Alone 
(practice to hot score)

Students decide for themselves when to stop practicing and save the most recent practice as their hot score.

(It is common for students to need multiple practices to feel ready to move on.)

Short Answer

Students compare their answer to possible correct answers and judge whether or not they were correct.

(There are four multiple-choice questions and one short answer question for each story.)

Crossword 
(once per book)

Each book of five stories includes one crossword puzzle unlocked after the stories are complete. Level E stories have five clues/target words and Level 5 stories have 15 clues/target words (with a few distractors).
